Many students have the ambition to become a doctor. There has been a massive spike in the percentage of students joining BiPC (PCB). This is a clear indicator of an increase in the interest in the medical field, especially MBBS. But, the fact remains that this is one of the most competitive fields in the world. And to add to that, it is expensive This is because of the availability of fewer seats in various government colleges.
Students who are ambitious to become a doctor will either join the private medical college or just prefer going abroad for studying when they do not get through the competitive exams. The intent of this article is to explore the options of MBBS abroad for Indian students. As of 2018
The difference between the number of MBBS seats available in the country and the number of applicants is massive. As of 20, there were nearly 13,00,000 students appeared for NEET and only 60,000 seats were available.
In 2019 15,00,000 appeared for NEET 2019 and the number of seats available was 90,000 Medicine/Dental seats. That makes 17 students competing for one seat! Every year the odds get more and more difficult. However, considering access to overseas education the options increase in number and quality.
Other areas of study such as engineering, business studies, or arts, typically lead students to consider the US, Canada, UK, Australia, etc. US, UK, New Zealand, Singapore, Australia, France, Canada, and Malaysia also require students to take a compulsory entrance exam for admission to MBBS courses.
Some countries like the US ideally requires a 4-year Pre-Medical program before you can apply for the MBBS entrance exam. But that doesn’t mean that an Indian aspirant is any less qualified.
